Do I need a license to work for CGS?

Yes, under the provision of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 all non 'in house' security personnel engaged in licensable conduct require an SIA License.

Which licenses are required by CGS employees?

CGS employees are engaged in a number of licensable activities including public space surveillance (CCTV) and close protection. Whilst the majority of our employees are engaged in security operations, we prefer our Security Officers to hold the Door Supervisors License for reasons of operational flexibility.

Does CGS provide training for the purposes of licensing?

All of our training needs are provided by Controlled Training Solutions (CTS), and a comprehensive range of SIA recognized training courses are available.

I have a close protection license. Does that cover all licensable activities?

The close protection license covers all licensable activity with the exception of public and open space surveillance (CCTV). This activity requires an additional license, although the cost of this license is currently discounted at 50%.

I have a criminal record. Does this mean I would not be able to get an SIA License?

This depends upon the nature of the conviction and whether it is 'spent'. The SIA web site provides a self assessment to see whether a candidate would be eligible or not.

Would I be required to work at different locations if I worked for CGS?

Normally we recruit personnel to a specific assignment. However, from time to time we do have to cover other locations for reasons of sickness or welfare etc. This would normally only be a temporary measure, and would be after consultation with the individual concerned.

I particularly want to work at Manchester United. Can I apply to work here specifically?

CGS recruit specific to operational requirements, and the demand to work at this prestigious assignment is naturally high. If a vacancy occurred, and you were of the calibre required, then you could state this preference.
